Church
World Service began CROP Walks to help stop
hunger 70 years ago. CROP Walkers have been walking, with the world,
for 34 years to help some 3,200 local food pantries, food banks, and
meal sites throughoutthe U.S. provide food to families in need; to help
communities drill borehole wells that reach deep into the aquifer, and
toprovide emergency food and drought-resistant seed for replanting in
parts of Africa; to help provide shelter and food for refugee and displaced
families, and rebuilding, replanting, and micro-credit assistance when
families are able to return to their homes.
We
walk because they walk millions of people around the world walk
every day for food, for shelter, for water, for survival.
In the Barrington
area community, churches have raised over $780,000 since 1983. Hunger,
shelter, and the need to provide tools for survival are ongoing needs.
The CROP Walk is an ongoing ministry in the Barrington area community.
Ongoing leadership from St. Michael's is essential to stay connected
to the local and global community. Make a difference in our community
and the world serve on the local CROP Walk planning committee
as St. Michael's representative. All the promotional work has been done
by Church World Service and previous community planning committees.
St. Michael's has been a significant partner in our community, participating
since 1983.
