Sage Men
The
"Sage Men" is a study group for men and began its 11th year
in January, 2007 with a move to a new day. The group now meets the second
and fourth Tuesday of each month and welcomes all men to join for all
or part of the meetings.
The gathering typically
begins at 9:30 a.m. with communion and continues at 10:00 with an opportunity
for general discussion and sharing. At 10:30 the discussion moves to
the selected study program. The groups membership is diverse and discussions
are lively and productive. Come for just one meeting
or come for all!
Winter 2007 Series
How
do we as Christian men relate in todays world to science, other
Christians, and non-Christians. Last fall the Episcopal Church adopted
a Catechism of Creation. At several meetings the participants of St.
Michael's Sage Men study group decided to examine this important issue
facing all Christians. This year, Fr. Don Moon, a physicist, past president
of Shimer College, and Episcopal Priest, will lead the group as they
study John Polkinghornes book, Science and Theology. Polkinghorne
was a professor of mathematical physics at Cambridge and then became
an Anglican Priest. Like Fr. Moon, Polkinghorne has a broad grasp of
the areas of science and theology and holds that they provide a complementary
perspective on the world stating that, "Both believe that there
is a truth to be sought and found through well-motivated belief."
