Spirited Sisters Book Study
"The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him." 2 Chronicles 16:9
You are warmly invited to join the women and friends of St. Michael's this fall as for a 11-week Bible study of best-selling author and Bible teacher Cynthia Heald's Becoming a Woman of Strength. Heald takes us into a deeper understanding of how, as we encounter the difficulties and obstacles of life, we are empowered with inner strength through God's Spirit so we can do all things through Christ. This study is not only about understanding our weaknesses and God's desire to strengthen us for His purposes, but also about realizing our inclination to rely on our own strength and insight in making decisions and handling difficulties.
With quotes from carefully selected writers, real-life accounts of people who have demonstrated inner strength, and key Scripture verses, this Bible study encourages women to depend upon the strength of the Lord to commit, wait, seek, pray, serve, and persevere throughout life.
No matter what challenges we are facing we can be strengthened to do what is needed, because the Lord's strength is dwelling within us. Come and grow with us whenever you can; stand-alone discussions will be held in St. Michael's Library* on Tuesday evenings, 7:00-9:00 p.m., September 17 through November 26. Books are available at And All the Angels. Questions? Call Sally Smith 847-274-4622 or Sue Barnum 847-304-6989.

* On the last Tuesday of each month we will meet at the home of a Spirited Sister rather than in St. Michael's Library.
Soul Journey: A Women's Journey
Soul Journey: A Women's Journey will return to it's normal time on Tuesdays, beginning September 10th and running 11 weeks through November 19th (in the church library from 9:30-11:30 am).
We're going to do a new gospel this year: the intriguing/deep/metaphorical book of John. This non-synoptic gospel holds many, many treasures for us. We'll pick out some highlights: Nicodemus, the Woman of Samaria, the Man born blind, Mary, Martha and Lazarus, Mary Magdalene, light versus darkness, and of course, Jesus' new commandment - Just love each other!
Let's boldly go there and let it nurture our souls.
Who are the women who come to Soul Journey? Well, for starters they span the gamut from age to situations. And they're the nicest bunch of women you'll find. These ladies really care for each other and we have room on the couch for you.
We'll have childcare so that you can come and fill your cup. Come and try us out, even if you've never come, or if it's been a long time. Welcome (back)!
Any questions, call Kay Lewis 847-381-7820.
