We have just learned from RefugeeOne that we have been assigned a Syrian family that will arrive next week. Our family consists of a 31 year old dad, a 26 year old mom, and two daughters, ages 6 and 3. They fled Syria in March 2013 and have been living in Jordan since then. The father has an intermediate education and was self-employed as a market vendor before they fled Syria, and the mother has an intermediate education and no work experience. They are Sunni Muslims and their native language is Arabic, but they speak some English. They will arrive at O'Hare next Thursday, January 19, and the plan is that they will be through immigration so that we can greet them by 4:00 p.m. We would like to invite the whole parish to be there with us to welcome them. A large group would be a great joy! Our committee will be preparing their apartment this weekend.
