9/20 -The date that Maria slammed into Puerto Rico
9/20 - Also an easy way to remember a way to donate funds to AWSM (All Women of St. Michael's) to purchase supermarket vouchers to give to people and families in need to purchase items of their choice. Your donation of $9 or $20 gives residents some choice between food, batteries, water, etc., and also helps boost the economy. St. Michael's will send a monthly collection of your donations to former parishioner, Rica Cuff's church, which will distribute vouchers to people in need.
A recently released University of Puerto Rico study reveals that more than half of Puerto Ricans have fallen below the poverty level after Maria, representing an 8 per cent jump.
