"Sacramental Sunday"

“Sacramental Sunday” is not an official term but one we have coined for an upcoming Sunday - June 2. On this rare and unique Sunday, we will celebrate Holy Eucharist, Holy Baptism, Confirmation Recognition and First Holy Communion.

As you know, the Episcopal Church has seven sacraments. Sacraments are outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace, given by Christ as sure and certain means for receiving God's grace.

Baptism and Eucharist are the two great sacraments given by Christ to his church. (BCP, pp. 857-858).

The Episcopal Church recognizes that five other sacramental rites evolved in the church under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, including Confirmation, Ordination, Holy Matrimony, Reconciliation of a Penitent, and Unction (the anointing of the sick with oil, or the laying on of hands) (BCP, pp. 860-861).

On Sunday, June 2 at the 10:00 a.m. service we will be celebrating 3 of these Sacraments on ONE DAY! We will celebrate Holy Eucharist, Holy Baptism, Confirmation Recognition (they will be confirmed on June 8) and Holy First Communion (not a sacrament, but very sacramental!).

We hope you will join us for this spirit filled morning.
