Living the Good News

St. Michael’s uses Living the Good News for the lesson plans during Sunday Church School.  Living the Good News is a lectionary-based, fully-graded Christian education curriculum. Its curriculum focuses on the same cycle of weekly readings used in our worship services; it also provides an opportunity for everyone in our education program, from Nursery to Adult, to center on the same theme, providing a "whole community" approach. The materials found in Living the Good News are relevant, educational, Bible-based, easy-to-use, theologically sound, and of course, fun!

The location (lower level of the church) and grades of classes are:

  • LEVEL 1– ages 3 through Kindergarten;
  • LEVEL 2 – 1st and 2nd grades;
  • BRIDGE – 3rd through 5th grades;
  • GATHERING ROOM - snack and social time

First or Solemn Communion

During the season of Epiphany we prepare third graders or older to celebrate their First or Solemn Communion.  This is a six week period of preparation during which we carefully look at the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation and the Eucharist with children.  The children respond according to their desire for the sacrament and their personal maturity, which is discerned with the help of the family and the teachers.
