Lent is a beautiful opportunity to reflect on the mercy of God, and to become ever closer with Him. We hope the following opportunities will encourage and help you:​​

February 25Shrove Tuesday Waffle Bar Dinner—Fun for the entire family with kids activities. 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room.

 

February 26—Ash Wednesday

+ Ashes-To-Go, 6:30-8:30 a.m. at the Barrington Train Station             

+ Services with Imposition of Ashes at 12:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

(Sunday School children gather in the chapel at 6:15 p.m. Childcare available for 6:30 p.m. service)

+ Preschool Imposition of Ashes 2/26 & 2/27 at 9:00 a.m.

11:15 a.m. in the Community Room. LUNCH, fun activities & fellowship.

 

March 1, 8, 15, 29 & April 5Lenten Book Read24 Hours That Changed the World by Adam Hamilton. 11:30 a.m. in the Undercroft. This book walks through Jesus’ last day on earth, beginning with Maundy Thursday and ending on Easter.  The class will include video from the author, and discussion about this day in our lives some 2000 years later. Books are available in our gift shop.

 

March 3Women’s Tuesday Morning Bible Study

March 3 to April 14Women’s Tuesday Evening Lenten Bible Study

March 4 to April 1Stations of the Cross & Labyrinth Journey

Wednesdays in Lent at 6:00 p.m. in the Nave & Chapel

We invite you to this devotional path of reflection based on events in the passion and resurrection of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Immediately following, we will gather in the Chapel for our own journeys through the Labyrinth. The Rev. Lisa Senuta of St. James the Less Episcopal Church, Northfield, will join us to lead the first Labyrinth walk. Additional materials will also be provided for your own personal Labyrinth use.

8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Schaumburg location.

St. Michael’s adults and teens will spend the evening preparing meals for children around the world who would not usually have access to healthy meals.

Every 1st and 3rd Saturday, Oct.—May, 7:30 a.m. in Conference Room.

During Lent (and beyond), we will be reading and discussing ‘The Gospel of John, Volume Two’, by William Barclay.  We read and discuss the scripture and commentary during our sessions, and share our books as needed.  Contact: Craig Anderson

 

March 14Pilgrimage to the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center

9:00 a.m. at St. Michael's, through lunchtime.

See what can happen when we are distracted from God’s Mission of loving our neighbors as ourselves. Hear from a Holocaust survivor, and learn more about combating hatred, prejudice, and indifference in the world today. A joint program with the Rev. Dr. Zina Jacque and the Community Church of Barrington.

 

March 8, 22 and April 5Exploring Sacred Music

Sunday’s at 7:00 p.m. in the library.

April 10A Journey Through Holy Week - for KIDS!

Good Friday, April 10, 12:00 p.m.—4:00 p.m. with lunch

An afternoon experience for kids aged 3 years - 5th grade. Experience the Last Supper, foot washing, Garden of Gethsemane, dramatized crucifixion, and ending with a joyous resurrection. Invite your neighbors and friends. Registration required. Contact Kim Curtis .
