Lindsay Taylor, Jr. Warden
I am running for Junior Warden for this year. My husband Kevin and I have been attending St. Michael’s for about 6 years along with our kids, Eddie (5 years old) and Willa (5 months old).
At St. Michael’s I have been a lector and a LEM. I am currently in my third year on the vestry and for the last three years have co-led the Stewardship program. Last year I was a lay delegate to the Diocesan convention.
I am looking forward to the opportunity to continue to serve St. Michael’s.

Marisa Boynton, Three Year Term
Hello St. Michael's Community! My name is Marisa Boynton and my family have been proud members of St. Michael's since February 2018. Since then, we have been welcomed so warmly in a community that we have grown to love and cherish. Since summer of 2018 I have been a member of the choir, and my children Henry age 10, and Aston age 4 have been active in the children's program.
I grew up in Addison, IL, and was raised in a Catholic parish that my mother had attended as a child. Both my parents had been married before, and from an early age I noticed that they never went to communion. When it was my time to make my first communion, it was explained to me that my parents were not "allowed" to take communion due to the fact they had been divorced and remarried. Even at that young of an age, I knew this didn't feel right to me. As the years passed, our attendance in church fizzled out, and after the loss of my father at age 13, our faith as a family was just not the same.
My entire life I have been involved in the arts, specifically musical theatre. The arts have been a haven for LGBTQ+ communities. Throughout my childhood I was surrounded by this amazing community, and to see the church that I was part of, and so many other Christian organizations have such hate towards a group of people that I loved so fiercely, solidified my choice to step away from organized religion.
Fast forward to having my own children. After 8 years living in London, my family moved back to the Chicagoland area, and shortly after the birth of our second child Aston, we knew that it was time to introduce our children to a religious education, and we began looking for a good fit for our beliefs and backgrounds. As Stewart is English, the first thing I did was look up the US version of the Church of England, and the closest parish to our home was St. Michael's. We attended one service, and the rest was history. I knew right away that it was going to be a home for us, and after further researching the beliefs of the Episcopalian faith, the choice was made.
I cannot stress how important St. Michael's has become to my family, and to be honest how surprised Stewart and I are to feel so comfortable in a setting we never thought would be part of our lives together. I'm honored to be considered for the vestry!

Brant Deichmann, Three Year Term
I’m a stay-at-home dad with my two boys Benjamin and Joel. I retired in 2020 as a tool designer. Designing tooling for the medical, packaging and automotive industries.
I grew up in Park Ridge. Attending Maine South high school and graduating high school from Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen Michigan in 1985. Studying visual arts and music composition. Playing a variety of string and brass instruments in band and orchestra. I have a B.S. in Airway Science Management from the University of North Dakota.
I enjoy getting truly lost on long cold hikes in Deer Grove forest preserve. Rolling out homemade pizzas regularly. Doing everything with my two boys. I've served as Junior and Senior Warden on the vestry of St. Philip's in Palatine. Where Jill and I were married in 2008. Jill and I really like our boys interacting with all the kids at St. Michael's.

John Totten, Three Year Term
Maribeth, my wife of 61 years, and I joined St. Michael's in 1990, moving to Chicago from Atlanta. We found and selected St. Michael's Church first, and thereafter moved to Inverness. In January 2000 we moved over to Barrington in our Garlands home. One of our two daugthers has followed us to Chicago. The other, mother of two adult girls and an 8 year old boy, lives in Battle Creek, Michigan.
I am honored to be asked to be a candidate for returning to the vestry. Over these past years I have been involved in a number of activities here at St. Michael's and the Chicago Episcopal Diocese. In the mid 90's I served on our vestry. I also have served as an Usher, Coffee Hour Server, Front Door Greeter, attendee of the Men's Friday Morning Coffee meeting, and member of the Finance Committee. I have also served as a member and Chair of the Chicago Diocesan Budget Committee in the city.
Also, we are proud of our success in bringing "Foyers...The Community of the Cross of Nails" to St. Michael's. (Looking forward to its restart after COVID passes!!)
I anticipate the opportuity of sharing steps of history at St. Michael's as our clergy and vestry continue to return this wonderful parish back to our place with God...and our Barrington neighbors.
Blessings,
John
