Yesterday, I saw a robin. Immediately, I knew it was a symbol of change. Signifying new growth and renewal in many areas of life. I was on my way to the Nave to set up things for the stations of the Cross. Apparently, since, it is Lent, I quieted and slowed myself down enough to listen to my surroundings. I found myself bird watching for a moment. Most people in the Midwest would agree it is the first sign of Spring. Another spring feel this week was the sun shining, helping the snow to melt fast. The blanket of snow in February, boulders of snow everywhere and mounds of snow on rooftops felt suffocating to me. The sounds of water pouring through my gutters at home and church was music to my ears. More so than the birds chirping who are recently flocking to the top of the bell tower. Things have begun to flow. How many of us have stopped talking about the weather, but rather pause, listen and HEAR what change is happening?
This month in Sunday School has been full of many teachable moments. To recap a few, we discussed the Transfiguration and Ash Wednesday. Reminding the kids how the glory of God’s power can change them. Then to allow the children to participate in an AT Home zoom Ash Wednesday service. The kids had a baggie of ashes, a child worship bulletin to follow along and a fill in the blank commitment to Lent sheet. Whether they chose to add or subtract something in their life for Lent, it was done as a family commitment.
Much like the Robin’s spiritual meanings who teaches us you can make changes with joy, laughter, renewal, and a song in your heart. Being present to walk with Jesus during these 40 days as a family is essential to building conversations of faith in your home.
One last important change this month is we have gotten a new Sunday school zoom link. The new link was emailed to you directly and updated online.
